Photo from Sackville NBMM

Dear Friends,

I am forwarding the photo that Vince took of our group meeting yesterday in Sackville for our meeting for business and including Eastern Shore Friends.

We had such a rich time of sharing, especially during the time of each group sharing what their activities have been and the spiritual richness of their faith community. It was such a wonderful day and what a wonderful potluck we had with all the wonders that creative hands brought to the table!

There was one item that i had missed in our agenda items and that was an update on the Peace Studies Program at STU. Stephen Pidwysocky, who was absent because he was speaking at the Unitarian Church in Fredericton, wanted us to know, that St Thomas Univ had accepted two new courses for the Peace Studies Program. They are 1) a theory and practicum course and 2) a senior peace theory course. Stephen was very excited about these new additions. Stephen teaches the first course that has been offered with a full slate of 60 students. He has been inviting local Quakers to speak to his classes on specific topics. Marilyn & Harry Roper spoke to the class last week and reported very attentive students who asked very pertinent questions and engaged in meaningful discussions. We will amend the minutes with this update.

Thank you Vince, for sharing this photo.

Ellen

Dear Vince, Ellen and all: Thank you so much for this wonderful photo!
I am still aglow with appreaciation for this blessed event yesterday. How
deeply satisfying it was to have reaffirmed membership of Eastern Shore
Quaker Meeting as an Allowed Meeting under the care of NBMM with specific
transfers of memberships. And seeing Daphne for the first time in many
years!! and others from PEI was such a treat. Even though we may not
see Anne, Barry, Margo, Judith Ann and others from Eastern Shore very
often, we hold them in our hearts. The only sadness was not having Judith
Ann and Les with us, and Maria. Please know that you were with us in
all but physical form. Thank you again, Ellen, for a carefully prepared
and very productive Meeting for Worship for Business.
Peace and Love, Marilyn (Roper)

Monthly Meeting

Our next monthly meeting for business will be held in Sackville in the Presidents Cottage and Eastern Shore Friends plan on joining us for this time together. Directions for finding the Cottage are attached.

Friends from PEI are also making plans for attending this meeting.

Directions to the “President’s Cottage”

Take the Sackville Main Street exit from the TCH (second exit from NS, first after Walker Rd coming from NB). Turn South towards town.

Within I km, on the RHS, you will pass the Civic Centre (big sign) and then, a mini mall with the Vinh Wok restaurant. Turn right on to King St (Sassy’s convenience store is on the corner). Immediately, turn left into a large car park and park at the far end.

Cross the road on the crosswalk and take the footpath on Main St. around the construction site. At the end of the metal fence, there is a path up to the white cottage. It is the only house on the campus!

If you need to drop stuff off, you can drive in but you cannot park on the campus. You may be lucky to get a parking spot on Main St. near the cottage. There is one handicapped parking place outside the Avard Dixon building on Main St.
